What is Corporate Yoga?

You may be wondering what is Corporate Yoga? Yoga and the Corporate world conjure up two very different thoughts and combining them together sounds a little strange. I came up with the name a few years ago and liked it because it is very “yin and yang”. Yoga is known for bringing balance to opposites and that is exactly what Corporate Yoga does! I travel around to Birmingham offices and teach a 60 minute power yoga class at the workplace. In my Corporate Yoga classes we focus on breath, strength work, relaxation, and of course stretching. I always include upper chest and back work to counter sitting and leaning over a desk or computer. My classes take place in boardrooms, empty offices, lobbies, or any room you have in your workplace that would be large enough to accommodate a yoga class. A few offices have added a yoga room complete with dimmed lights and mirrors. The classes are paid for by the employer as a wellness benefit for their employees. After a Corporate Yoga class participants feel energized, relaxed, focused, and ready to tackle the rest of their workday. Yes, the name Corporate Yoga does sound a little strange and is certainly “yin and yang” but balancing out the stress and demands of work with a little yoga sure does feel great and benefits everyone!
